Matua George asking us a question about a very important girl. |
Matua George told us about this lady that involved with the famous story in rotorua. The lady involved in the story by getting people to take shelter in her house when the volcano erupted. tens, no hunderds, no thousands of people died when Mt. Tarawera erupted... it was a sad day (cries).
Matua George teaching us bout Hei Tikis |
Anyways, back to hei tikis. (those beautiful symbols made out of jade that means "First man") As I have written down before; "Rebecca taught us what was proper to use Hei Tikis for." So Rebecca chose four people who volunteered to be a helper. The four helpers held up some pictures and we have to tell if the tikis/hei tikis were being used properly or not (it ended up being 1/2 of them being proper and the other 1/2 not).
Overall I had a great time at the museum (well not just near it), learning about hei tikis, it's history, how to use them properly and making one ourselves! I hope that some day I could experience this again but in another place, time and subject, which is pretty much deja vu.
