Grandparents Day 2018

Grandparents day was an awesome day! It had a concert, shared morning tea and some family fun! I think almost everybody was having a great time especially at the amazing concert. I saw people eating and sharing food as if it's like a family reunion! But I wonder how people would feel when they saw their grandparents. But I think people missed them and loved them so much. Anyways here's a photo of me in the concert.

Me, Ysabella and Tara playing on a xylophone.

p.s. I hope you'll have a great day!

Reading Goal Term 3

Update: 31/08/18- I think that I still need to work on that goal since I know that I don't reflect on my reading that much and I don't really think about the author's purposes that much too sadly. Better luck next time me! - Nyla

By the end of term 3 is to make a conclusion and/or an assumption about what I've read and the author's purposes.

Hei Tiki

Matua George asking us a question about a very important girl.
Last Friday my class (room 4) and I went to the musuem to learn about Hei Tiki! There were twopeople teaching us about it: Matua George and Whea Rebecca. George taught us about the history and Rebecca taught us what was proper to use Hei Tikis for. We did 3 activities when were there: touching hei tikis, looking at art, which was made by a few artists, about tikis/hei tikis, and trying to make a hei tiki out of felt, felt pens, buttons, thread, scissors and other materials.

Matua George told us about this lady that involved with the famous story in rotorua. The lady involved in the story by getting people to take shelter in her house when the volcano erupted. tens, no hunderds, no thousands of people died when Mt. Tarawera erupted... it was a sad day (cries).
Matua George teaching us bout Hei Tikis
But in the future, (AKA right now) we are great and no volcanoes are erupting so far (excluding Hawaii of course.)
Anyways, back to hei tikis. (those beautiful symbols made out of jade that means "First man") As I have written down before; "Rebecca taught us what was proper to use Hei Tikis for." So Rebecca chose four people who volunteered to be a helper. The four helpers held up some pictures and we have to tell if the tikis/hei tikis were being used properly or not (it ended up being 1/2 of them being proper and the other 1/2 not).

Overall I had a great time at the museum (well not just near it), learning about hei tikis, it's history, how to use them properly and making one ourselves! I hope that some day I could experience this again but in another place, time and subject, which is pretty much deja vu.

Ascension

What is the difference between the Ascension and the Resurrection?

During the Resurrection, Jesus carried the cross and he died on the cross.

Jesus comes back to Heaven during the Ascension which means: "going up"

Being sad, the Disciples see Jesus leave them during the Ascension and Resurrection.

My Brilliant Camp 2018

The whole senior school eating at the
 Josephite Sister's retirement home.
A few days ago on Monday - Thursday I was on camp and I'm  about to tell YOU what happened at camp in my perspective/view (not all the details though).

I think that everything in camp was amazing at the Hamilton Zoo, The Sky tower, Rangitoto Island, The Josephite Sisters and a lot of other places we visited because there a lot of interesting things that happened like how there were a lot of surprises going down the island *cough* children hiding in the bushes to scare us *cough*.
The whole senior school in front of the museum.

I saw a lot of people being happy and having fun all around, I saw a lot of dirt and animals... a lot of buildings to.

I wonder what it would've been like to have a silent dinner ( a silent dinner is when everybody in the dinner is silent and we have to draw/write what we want to say in a piece of paper) until I tried it, it was ... silent.
Me and Paolo at Motat in some kind of trap thingy.

My S.M.A.R.T. Goal

Update: By the end of term 3 I will learn how to do the rubik's cube in 30 seconds.

Update: I now know how to solve the rubik's cube.

Update: By the end of term 3 I will learn how to do the rubik's cube.

Update: I now know how to divide 100's in a number (not in the "435 / 100 = 4.35 thing). For example: 626 = 6 or 578 = 5 or 3428 = 34.

Update: By the end of week 5 term 3 I will know my 100's in a number.

Update: I know how to divide numbers even if there are decimals because I can remove the dot (if there are decimals) and then divide it by the other number, then put the dot back. For example: 30.15 / 15. 3015 / 15 = 201. 30.15 / 15 = 2.01.

New Goal: By the end of term 2 to divide numbers even when there are decimals.

New Goal: By the end of Term 2 I will learn how many 10's in decimals.

New Goal: By the end of this term (term 2)I will be able to order
fractions.

By the end of this term (term 1) I want to learn how to properly round to the nearest tenth with decimals.

I know to check the hundredths column then round up if the digit is 5,6,7,8 or 9 I round up if it is 1,2,3 or 4 I round down.

Belonging Cycles - WITH MARIAN

Hello! Today (or the other days) our class learned how to describe how groups belong together. We had to do it in partners and I think you already know who's my partner... MARIAN! It was fun making the gradients, shapes and texts even if it took a few days.

Swimming With Henk

This week we were swimming with Henk.
Me and my class doing some exercises before doing some laps/challenges.
We did some challenges with really normal swimming moves. For example, swimming back stroke with one arm, try to swim with out breathing etc.
