Beach Art

In room 2 we got to do some BEACH ART! The person that originally did this kind of art was Diana Adams. The whole class did the art and here's my art right beside this text. We used pastels so that it will have a nice texture to the drawing; we'll even make he clouds later (and we'll also make it realistic).
We also made an outline of what we wanted for our drawing to prepare for the colouring too.

Big Splash

In Rainbow Fairy Springs me and my group tried the BIG SPLASH! The Big Splash was about history AKA the Jurassic times. The big Splash had amazing scenery especially the start. THERE EVEN WAS A TALKING FISH! I guess it was so fun that near the end I keep on shouting/saying "I'M GONNA DO IT AGAIN EVERYBODY I'M GONNA DO IT AGAIN!!!!" It was too fun to be true.
So yeah the Big Splash in Rainbow Fairy Springs Is... well I guess its too amazing that I can't even find a word for it. wow. Anyways I think that the Big Splash is super amazing and I think that people should try it out.

Book Character Day

Today is a special day for St Mary's.Today, is, Book Character Day! For book character day we get to dress up as our favourite book character. I dressed up as Matilda from the book Matilda a book by Roald Dahl. Matilda is a 5 or 6 year old girl that is very smart wears a blue dress she likes to read books and she even wants to go to school. She knows how to even bake PANCKES! One day she eventually got enrolled to a school full of torture but at least it wasn't fully torture. She at least had a nice teacher. Well that is part of the story but I won't tell you the rest. Here is a screenshot of the book cover.
Matilda is a great story and I recommend you read it.

Grandparents Day Performances

Last week we had a holiday called Grandparents Day. Grandparents day is a day to be thankful for our grandparents and it's also might be a very special day for grandparents too. We first had a mass and then we had shared lunch then a concert. We had a nice time in our shared lunch and I remember ending up playing chess. For the concert there were a lot of groups like PI, choir, gymnastics and even the Filipino group (of course, that wasn't all the groups). Here are the groups that I performed in using photos and This Text: PI and choir.
The ones with the costumes is PI the ones with no costumes choir.

I think that the grandparents enjoyed the concert.

Chess

Last week my dad visited my class to teach chess. He taught my classmates the basics of chess even if we already know how to play chess. While he was teaching chess the class was sitting around him but not too close and no one was in the back (back of my dad) so, everybody got to see what is happening (like at the photo below this text).
We also got to play against each other (my classmates) and it was fun. Now we play chess I dunno like, everyday before school. A lot of my classmates keeps on thinking that I will beat the easily! But, I hope everything goes well as the term goes on (if you want to see one of the games, look at the photo below the text).

Hello.My name is Nyla.

In this post i'm using sign language to say my name I hope you like it. A teacher named Julie helped room 2 (my class) and room 1 speak a bit of sign language. She also told us some very interesting things while she taught us some sign language, like how there is a certain language for people that are def and blind. She said that a lot of countries have different sign languages, some similar. though this kind of sign language is not the same as the american sign language. This sign language is also an official language for New Zealand (NZ).

My Visual Calendar Art

This is my precious art. You can buy my Beautiful calendar art for your gorgeous calendar. I used some  dye, vivid and bleech on this. There is also a great fundraiser for our school to get money for art supplies for next year. If your buying it then I hope you enjoy this colourful art.

My Best Memory Of Term 3

My Best Memory Of Term 3

My Best Memory Of Term 3 was when we did milk day. Ms. Nelson made moustaches that matches the colour of the milk carton and we did some pictures when someone taped our moustaches on. I'll show you one of the pictures that has me in it.
I'm the one wearing red that is waving. I had a fun experience and I hope that next term (including the holidays) everyone will have a great time.

Maori Week

Maori Week

In Maori Week we did some rotations through senior school but everyone's class in senior school started with their class. My class was room 2. We did string art where we get to make patterns out of string.
One of them was a cup and
saucer. Next we came to room 3 where we get to make Maori symbols out of salt dough I did the triple twist this represents a bond between two groups or two people. There two days of the Maori rotations so, the next day in room four we did some music out of what looks like rolls of paper. The teacher told us the name of it but I forgot. Lastly, on room 1 we did Maori bingo. It's like normal bingo but when you're done you have to say house in Maori and then read out the numbers in Maori... if your the first one to shout out house in Maori.

Why Does our Nose Run?

Why Does Our Nose Run?

Why does our nose run? I don’t think many people asks that question probably  because they think that it is yuck, but it’s cleaner than you think.

There is this thing called mucus (Myoo-cus) but it is known as snot. You may think this is also yuck, but it’s not. If you’re wondering, what is snot/mucus? It is  this green slimey thing that comes out of your nose.

Mucus (I’m just calling that for now) helps by blocking the germs, bacteria, you name it! from your lungs. It normally happens when you have a flu, allergies, a cold, when your crying and when it’s cold outside.

Well, I hope you won’t get sick this month… or, this winter. Also, I hope you enjoyed the info.

Mrs. Denis' Dancing Class Term 3

Mrs. Dinniss' Dancing Class Term 3

On term 3 Mrs. Dinniss taught us on how to dance hip hop and folk dancing.

For folk dancing we did Seven Jump, the Chicken Dance and Cotton Eye Joe. I liked Cotton Eye Joe and the Chicken Dance because it is so funny sometimes but for Seven Jump, no. Seven Jump was too sweaty or tiring for me.

Too me hip hop is something that has a lot of action that also lets your body too be loose. There are dances that have names that are part of hip hop, For example, Fiction or Popping.

I liked dancing with Mrs. Dinniss and I hope that I will get to have more dancing lessons in the future (here's a video of one of the things we have to do in a group of four it is hip hop too).

Church Guide

Church Guide

My Class and some of room 3 had Sister Carina tell us somethings in the church. She told us what some objects of the church are and she answered questions and she asked questions too. One of the objects were a candle that lights up on Easter (not by itself of course) called the Pascal candle. She also taught us how to genuflect.

The Nativity Of Mary

The Nativity Of Mary

Me and my class celebrated The Nativity Of Mary by going to mass and eating cake. It wasn't just our class that came to mass though, but it was to whole school who came their. The cake was chocolate flavoured and it was yummy and I also saved the frosting from falling down using my hand. It also had sprinkles.

Mocktails

Mock tails

Me and Julianne Made a mock tail with 7up, Fanta, Sprite, Tropical powder, Orange juice and Ice. It was yummy and we decided to call it Mandarin Frenzy. I don't know if i'm good at measuring or not because we were suppose to have 600 ml of the drink and we ended up having 201 ml. I like taste testing the drink because it was so yummy and I wish i could at least taste it again and I think next time would bring more drinks than soda.

Pass It

Pass It

Pass it is a PE thing where we have an instructor called Tim. Tim is from Go4it which is also a PE thing. Tim lets us do games and we normally play two certain games every time we go to Pass it, those games are both tagging games too. I love Pass it and I hope that there will be more games that my class could play in the  future.

Student Led Conference

Student Led Conference

At the Student Led Conference, Me and my dad came to school after 3:00 and I showed him somethings I did during that week with a welcome from my teacher, Ms. Nelson. I showed my dad some goals I will try to get from each subject: Maths, Reading, Leadership and Writing. I also showed my dad three things that I did during the week like drumming. The Student Led Conference gone well and I hope it will be as good as next time.

Homophones Quiz

I think I like this way of learning because you would get to learn with out even going to school (if your a person that didn't make a google form in class about homophones). I think next time I do this I will check my punctuation.

Drumming

Drumming

We did some drumming at the AstroTurf and did some kind of beat with a rhythm. The rhythm was pretty much do four beats 8 times starting with right and then left ending it with a release. I think it was great and I look forward to do more.

Playdoh Experiment

Play doh Experiment

My class did some science last week and Ms Nelson let us have groups of three and we get to choose who our partners be too.
There was some pink play doh, some wires, a battery, four LED lights and a hard green thing.  We had to try to light the LED light with a set of instructions and then go onto the next thing. My group didn't get to go to the next project because at the last minute, we ended up realising that needed another battery. I wonder why did it need another battery.

My BEST Sentence

My BEST Sentence

My class looked at pictures writing on what had happened during the events of that picture and also one of them was even a video. Here is the sentence that I think is the best one I made so far.

Despite the fact that the irritating lions was not catching up to the giraffe, one of them snuck up to the giraffe, and the lion pounced to the giraffe but the giraffe ended up stomping on it.

Assumption Liturgy

Assumption Liturgy

My class and Room 1 hosted a liturgy, and the liturgy is called The Assumption. The Assumption is when Mary the mother of Jesus dies and was lifted up to heaven by body and soul. I think the students that are from the other classes learned about what happened when Mary died and how she came to heaven. I learned that Mary came to heaven by being lifted by he own son with body and soul.

Coding

Coding

My class has been learning about coding for a couple of weeks now. I like how we get to control over the characters and learn about new things about algorithm. Algorithm is pretty much like a pattern. I think I am learning about how to use loops in coding by drawing. Loops are pretty much things that let you repeat a certain thing as many times as you want. I don't know if it's helping me with my schoolwork yet but I guess i'll work it out some day.

Mary Mackillop Day

Mary Mackillop Day

Mary Mackillop is a saint that helped the poor and is kind to a lot of people. Mary Mackillop Day is a day when we do some activities about here like making bookmarks and decorating a scroll  that is printed in paper with quotes that Mary Mackilllop made with a partner. There is also a mass with a play after that. My favourite one is the one when we did is the one when we get to do a self portrait. I also learned that  Mary Mackillop has travelled a few countries and I hope that I could learn more about her some day.

Hatchet Book

Hatchet Book

Hatchet tells about a boy named Brian that ended up trapped in a Canadian forest because he was going by plane to live with his dad and needed to survive the wild. I liked the book so far and I can't wait for the last two chapters 18 and 19. My favourite part of the story so far is how Brian learned more about the wild and how character has developed during the events of the story. My prediction for the end of the story is that Brian will stay in the wild and possibly get use to it and prefer that life instead of the life he used to have with his parents.

Healthy Lunch Competition

Healthy Lunch Competition

We did this Healthy Lunch Competition where we have to buy healthy stuff from a countdown circular with only two dollars. The fruits were something like three dollars but we get to use a calculator. I only had three things in my lunch box because I can't afford anything else and I ended up with $1.06 dollars. You might think that I still can afford stuff but I can't because when I use the calculator to divide the price by two, it goes above two. I believe I did a good, not great, good job on having fruit and I hope that I did the best I could do.

Go4it Games

Go4it Games

Tim is the person who let us play games and made it harder and harder. It is fun. Tim let everyone get a chance of doing something and there were different games with different rules. We did games that let us work by ourselves, teams, even tag games.  I would really want to play some more and I hope I will get to see him again.

Hiwi The Future Saviour

Hiwi the Future Saviour

Hiwi the kiwi is a person who travelled to schools over New Zealand to teach them stuff that they could tell their parents and could be aware of what they were doing. Giwi taught us about this fabulous phrase “fish for the future” He meant be careful on how you fish.

His visit made the day very interesting by letting us do actions when he sang songs. He became funny on how he acts, speaks, and probably on how he response when someone says their name for example “My name is Ania” “Hi Ania are you from Asia?” he replies. He taught us that we should have a towel when we are carrying fish and another thing is that black patrols are in danger because they keep on eating plastic, So we can pick up the plastic when we are at the beach (and black patrols are birds).

I feel happy and I like how he  performs and I love them as a fan and as support (and he has a wife). He made spectacular songs and his wife did some beautiful actions, she even picked the person who got the most STYLE. Anyways, if I gave it a rating I’ll give it 10 stars showing how I love his show and I do hope him safe travels.

Heelan Tompkins

Heelan Tompkins

Heelan Tompkins is a person who joined the Olympics.
She's an Equestrian, that means she's a horse rider.
She went to our school and told us about what happened in her  travels.
They were great stories and I liked her stories it is fun hearing those exciting stories even if some of the people are stubborn.

The Moon Projects

The Moon Projects

Our class decided to focus on the moon.
We’ve written about the moon, we answered questions about the moon, and other things.
We looked at the phases of the moon and learned the names.
We read this text when a friend from New Zealand transported to Japan; he found the moon strange and told his friends.
They found out why the moon looks strange because they are in different hemispheres.
I am starting to think the moon is an extraordinary planet.

Nicene Creed Certificate

Ms. Nelson did a Creed Off where we have to say the whole Nicene Creed. She made a certificate for the people who ended up doing it and one of them is me.

Sustainability Game

Me and Julianne made a game called Build And Go. Build and Go is a sustainability game where you have to be the first one to have the TALLEST building. Of course, you have to do stuff like pay for electricity, answer a trivia question and go to the store but sometimes you won't have enough money.
The bright side of the game is you get to collect $100 maybe even $1000.

Room 2 Assembly

My class Room 2 hosted an assembly on Friday and we all had jobs. My job was to introduce the principal for the day and the judge for the wacky hair day activity. My classmate won first place since she has REALLY wacky hair. I did another job where one person from the group of making the sustainability game shows their game and in my group ... I was the one. I also won in the cake competition and the theme was Matariki.

Fidget Spinner Day

We persuaded Ms. Nelson that fidget spinners are a good use and we ended up having a fidget spinner day yay! fidget spinner day is the day where we get to bring fidget spinners to class. We talked about what the fidget spinners are used for and did maths with it (we used the fidget spinners as a timer in maths).

Tall Stories Team Project

Tall Stories Team Project

Me, Yevin, Noah and Luke built a tower. The tower was made out of newspaper, green bands, tape and paperclips. It was a team project where all of us have to build a tower as high as possible in fifteen minutes using teamwork. Teamwork is a group of people working together as a team. Me, Yevin and Noah were working together while Luke played around a bit. I guess we were 75% successful… not in making the tallest building, in doing teamwork.

Math Clock

I coloured the clock into six colours coding it. I've written down a lot of equations that could be divided/multiplied into sixty. I sometimes reverse the equations to make more equations.

The Fun Sustainability Game

Electro City is a game where you get to be a mayor of a virtual city and you have to try and take care of it.

I wanted to get an A rating, get the population of 50,000 people and a high score but that didn't really happen at the end of forty minutes because I didn't get to finish.

I wanted to care for the environment because I was thinking about the people in the future but it ended up being a low score.... I might build more buildings next time.

It added: "thinking about what people want to do and not want to do even if the environment needs it" on sustainability(at least, on me)

Fad Quiz

I scored 100% in both tests and one of them is the meaning of the words and one of them asks about the article.

Anzac Biscuits

The ANZAC cookie I ate was yummy and I wanted to bake them in my home.
It was yummy, tasty and a grandma baked it.
When we (me, Ella, Julianne, Bongani and Mikulash) baked it, there was a part when we get to roll it (when it was softer) into a ball.
We used melted butter and the teachers said that there was going to be like a, chemical reaction but nothing happened.
I think that the soldiers would miss there love ones just because they baked those cookies for them and they let the cookies travel for months hoping that it would reach them or it could make the soldiers determined to fight for their loved ones and/or the future.

Anzac Word Art

I learned that the word Anzac is an acronym and it stands for: Australia New Zealand Army Corps.
I learned that the Last Post is a last goodbye to all the soldiers who died.
I learned that the Anzac biscuits were probably baked by the girlfriends, the wives and mothers.

Cicada skin

Cicada Skin Their colour is as bronze as a french fry. They are so translucent, that you can see through it’s eye. It is so clingy, that it could get stuck in your finger. It has big round eyes. It has beautiful wings, but that’s absent because it’s skin. It’s legs at the front looks like claws from the crab or lobster. It could be as small as a mouse or as big as a fly. It’s so bumpy and so smooth, it’s the same thing . It’s so brown, that it could also be used for art. It’s also empty inside that it’s hollow.

Favourite Sports

A graph is like reflecting on like, for example, favourite sports and that could be called our data.
As we know in the computer, data is information.
We collect our data by knowing how many people like sports.

Bike Measurements

Me, Ella and Julianne were measuring my bike when Ms Nelson  took some pictures.
As I said earlier me Ella and Julianne were measuring my bike.
One example of measuring my bike was seeing how it could go from a pole to a table.
The date of the day we measured my bike was 9/2/17.
We measured my bike near my classroom.
And We measured my bike in that certain date is because it was bike to school day.
